Listening: exposure to new work and artists via in-depth analysis and discussion.Approaches to music annotation/scoring/scripting.Orchestration and performance deployment.Creative resourcefulness during lockdown (musicians have a long tradition of this!).Composing for performance featuring objects and DIY instruments.Introduction to creative sound practices incorporating hands-on experience with digital audio workstations (DAW), basic amplification (the mixer as a paradigm for sound manipulation).Making music for diverse contexts: composer as solo performer, composer as part of an ensemble, composer as producer/artistic director.COURSE DETAILS:Ĭreative Sound Studio is a project-based, hands-on sound/music-making workshop. Students with credit for FPA 145 may not take this course for further credit.
